Dong Yue Miao, also called Dongyue Temple, is a grand Chinese temple on the eastern side of Beijing. It is named after the Taoist Eastern Park, otherwise known as Mount Taishan.

Dong Yue Miao was built in the 14th century. In 1999 a massive restoration project brought it into the 21st century.

From the main courtyard, you enter the Hall of Tai Shan. Here, you can see the statues of the god of Tai Shan with his attendants. There is a cloister lined with the pantheon of Taoist gods and demons. Thankfully, there are also captions explaining each of them in English.

How to reach Dong Yue Miao

Dong Yue Miao is located at 141 Chaoyang Men Wai Dajie, Chaoyang. Take the subway to the Chaoyang Men station. The temple is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Tuesdays to Sundays.
