About Fuxing Park

Fuxing Park is a park in the French Concession of Shanghai, China. It was bought by the French to be used as a private park, and was known then as French Park. Elements of the French garden is still visible in the park, such as in the meandering paths lined with cherry trees.

The park was renamed Fuxing Park in 1949. The name "Fuxing" means "revival". Fuxing Park is near the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Residence, the house where Dr Sun Yat-sen and his wife Song Qingling lived between 1918 and 1924. The interior of the house has been kept exactly as it was during Dr Sun's time. Many of his personal belongings are still there, on display.

To the south of Fuxing Park is the former residence of Zhou Enlai. Zhou lived here in the 1940's when he was the Head of the Communist Party in Shanghai. The sparsely decorated house is an excellent example of a European-style Shanghai villa.

How to reach Fuxing Park
