About Hongkou Park

Hongkou Park is a park in Shanghai, China. It is located to the north of Suzhou Creek, which was named after Suzhou, the predominant city in that area before Shanghai developed. Hongkou Park is in the Japanese precinct of the former International Settlement.

Today Hongkou Park is a nice place to go for a walk and watch the local people take boat rides in the lake, practising tai ji quan or playing Chinese chess.

Hongkou Park is also popularly known as Lu Xun Park, after the Chinese novelist Lu Xun who lived near to it. Lu Xun's tomb is also located within the park. There is also a memorial hall dedicated to him.

How to reach Hongkou Park

Take Line 3 of the Shanghai Metro to the Hongkou subway station. Hongkou Park is located to the east of the subway station after the Hongkou Football Stadium. Lu Xun's former residence is located to the south of Hongkou Park, at 9 Dalu Xincun off Shanyin Road, and is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
