The Norway Pavilion at Expo 2010The Norway Pavilion at Expo 2010 attempts to give visitors the feel of walking through a Scandinavian forest. The theme here is "Norway, powered by nature". The pavilion comprises 15 "model trees" made from Norwegian pines and Chinese bamboo. The idea is to merge Norwegian construction material with that of the host country. The Norway Pavilion aims at presenting Norway as a livable country, a place where the people is close to nature. ![]() Norway Pavilion, Expo 2010 Shanghai China Author: Walter Lim (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic) The inside of the Norwegian Pavilion feels like an unfinished furniture shop. It seems minimalist. Nonetheless the pavilion offers displays of the Norwegian landscape, from its rugged coastline to its breathtaking glaciers. Every opportunity is taken to show how closely the cities exist beside nature, through their proximity to the seas, mountains and forests. The roof of the Norwegian Pavilion is made from a material that simulates the shade of a blue sky. It is also able to collect solar energy to make the pavilion self-sufficient. |
