About Sanxingdui Museum
Sanxingdui Museum is a museum for the Sanxingdui archaeological site in Sichuan Province, China. The name Sanxingdui means "three stars mound".
Sanxingdui was re-discovered in 1987 after its first discovery in 1929, when a farmer unearthed a large stash of jade artifacts while digging a well. The site was lost for many years until 1986, when workers accidentally stumbled upon sacrificial pits containing thousands of gold, bronze, jade and clay artifacts that have been broken or perhaps ritually disfigured, and then carefully buried.
Archaeologists and scientists studying the artifacts in Sanxingdui were astounded by the style which is completely different Chinese art.
How to reach Sanxingdui Museum
Take the bus from the New South Gate bus station to Sanxingdui. The museum is open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm daily. Admission fee is ¥80.00.
