About Song Jiang

Song Jiang is a charming little town on the railway route between Shanghai and Hangzhou. It has a number of sights which are worth visiting.

Among the places of interest in Song Jiang is its square pagoda, which dates back to the Song Dynasty. Near to it is a 4-meter (13-feet) high and 6-meter (20-feet) long Ming screen wall. The wall is decorated with carvings of mystical beasts.

To the west of Song Jiang is an old mosque that dates to the Yuan dynasty. It is believed to be one of the oldest Muslim place of worship in China, and is still being used today as a mosque.

How to reach Song Jiang

Song Jiang is 40 km (25 miles) to the southwest of Shanghai. You can take a bus there from the Xi Qu bus station in Shanghai.
