The Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2010

The Switzerland Pavilion at Expo 2010 makes full use of technology to breathtaking effect. Themed "Rural and Urban Interaction", the pavilion is drapped with a curtain of woven aluminium elements. The curtain comprises thousands of LED lights that are an energy source as well as a storage and consuming unit. The sun as well as the flashes of visitor cameras will trigger the LEDs into producing flashes. At night, the cells will trigger each other.

Another highlight of the Swiss pavilion is the chair lift ride, which takes people up and out of the roof garden. Riders get a tour of the scenery in Switzerland. At ground level, they see exhibits on urban living in Switzerland. When they arrive at the roof, the scenery changes to the tranquil space of rural Switzerland. The whole journey takes 10 minutes.
