Xiang Shan Park, or Fragrant Hill Park, is an expansive wooded parkland in Beijing. The park, at Wofosi Lu, Xiang Shan, in Haidian district of Beijing, is most beautiful during autumn, when the maple leaves turn a brilliant red.

Within Xiang Shan Park is Biyun Temple, or Temple of the Azure Clouds. It is located near the main gate of the park. Entering the temple, one is greeted by the fierce looking statues of Heng and Ha, the temple protectors. At the rear of the temple is the 34-meter (112 feet) Diamond Throne Pagoda.

Within Biyun Temple is the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. This was where the coffin of Sun Yat-sen was kept in 1925, before being taken to Nanjing.

At Xiang Shan Park you can take a chairlift up to Incense Burner Peak, where the views are most scenic.

How to reach Xian Shan Park

Take Bus 333 from the Summer Palace, or bus 360 from the Beijing Botanical Garden.
