The Malviya Bridge is a major vehicular and rail bridge across the Ganges in Varanasi. Visible from all along the banks of the Ganges Varanasi, the Malviya Bridge was built in 1887, and was originally called the Lord Duffrin Bridge. It was renamed Malviya Bridge in 1948 after Madan Mohan Malaiya, the founder of the Banaras Hindu University.
