The Prayag Ghat is located on the immediate left of the Dashaswamedh Ghat, the most important section in Varanasi. Devotees usually spill over to this ghat in the mornings and evenings when the daily puja is conducted.

The Prayag Ghat consists of a Hindu shrine which is painted a deep ochre. In front of it are the rattan parasols of holy men who set up stalls to provide fortune-telling services to the pilgrims. Steps lead downwards from Prayag Ghat into the Ganges where devotees bathe.
