Taj Mahal in the evening, India

The photos on this page were taken on the evening part of the day. They were taken within the gardens of the Taj Mahal. Tripod is forbidden, so I had to keep my hands steady until it was too dark to shoot anymore.

This is the gateway into the gardens. Like all formal Mughal gardens, it has an imposing gate. Note the tiny minarets on top of the gate. Their total denotes the number of years taken to build the Taj Mahal.
 | (left) As you go through the darkened gateway, the sight of the marvellously white Taj bids you in.
(below) And within ten seconds, you are standing in awed of the palatial monument before you.

It's the picture on every Taj postcard. But the idea of being here, alone with the Taj, quickly evaporates: there's people everywhere, teeming like ants over honey.
 | When faced with something like the Taj, you don't need to be a good photographer - any Tom, Dick or Harry can get a good shot if he stands at the right spot.
|

Some times, all you need is a stroke of luck, as in this case, when I caught this flock of birds flying over the monument.
