Koryu-ji Temple is a Shingon temple in Uzumasa, Kyoto. Established in AD 603, it is said to be the oldest temple in Kyoto. Its founder was Hata no Kawakatsu, who received a Buddhist statue from Prince Shotoku, a regent and politician of the Asuka period of Japan.

Within the treasure hall, or Reihoden, of Koryu-ji Temple is the statue of the Buddha of the Future, Miroku Bosatsu, brought into Japan from Korea in the 7th century.l It is said to be the oldest statue in Kyoto, and it was one of the first items to be registered as a National Treasure of Japan, on 9 June, 1951.

 Within the oldest structure of the temple, the Kodo, is a 9th century statue of the Amida Buddha.

Koryu-ji Temple is also popular for the Bull Festival traditionally held in mid-October, but is presently suspended.
