Philosopher's Walk is a scenic trail in the old city of Kyoto, Japan. It was named became the famous Japanese philosopher and professor at Kyoto University, Nishida Kitaro (1870-1945), is said to have used it every day for his daily meditation.

The Philosopher's walk starts at the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku-ji), and ends at the Eikan-do Temple. For much of the way, it follows the meandering cherry-tree-lined canal at the foot of Higashiyama.

Along the route of the Philosopher's Walk, you will pass other temples and shrines including Miroku-in, Honen-in, Anraku-ji, Reigan-ji, Otoyo-jinja and Nyakuoji-jinja. From Eikan-do Temple, you can continue on to Nanzen-ji Temple.

The Philosopher's Walk is best appreciated in early spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
