Saga Prefecture (佐賀県) is a prefecture of Japan on the island of Kyushu. It covers 2,439.58 sq km and has a population of 860,000 (2011 estimate). Saga Prefecture is the smallest prefecture in Kyushu. It is bordered by Fukuoka Prefecture to the east and Nagasaki Prefecture to the west. It also has coastlines facing the Genkai Sea and Tsushima Strait to the north and Ariake Sea to the south. Its capital is also called Saga.

As in the case with Nagasaki, Saga was also a gateway for trade and cultural exchanges with the rest of Asia, particularly with China and Korea. Much of Saga Prefecture is today still rural, with agricultural and forested areas comprising 68% of its total land area.
