Shimogamo Shrine, Kyoto
Shimogamo Shrine is one of the two Shinto shrines along the Kamo River in Kyoto. Dedicated to the god of thunder, it is set in a forested area known as Tadasu no Mori, which means "forest where lies are revealed".
Shimogamo Shrine is closely associated with the rice harvest. The annual Aoi Festival features a procession between it and Kamigamo Shrine, with other events such as archery and horse racing.
