Takao District is a place in the outskirts of Kyoto. It has esoteric mountain temples dotting the landscape. Among the sights are Takao District are:
- Jingo-ji
Temple established in the 8th century. It houses the statue of Yakushi Nyorai Buddha, considered a National Treasure of Japan.
- Kozan-ji Temple
Temple founded in AD 774.
- Sekisui-in
Temple located near the site where the first tea cultivation was started in Japan.
