Customs
This is to be expected for any country: You are strictly prohibited from bringing in or using narcotics, firearms and ammunition. If you get caught with these, you won't get death, but you will rot in a Japanese jail.
There is no limit to the amount of currency and valuables that you can bring into Japan, but there is an official limit of ¥5 million that you may take out. In addition, you're allowed to bring in, tax free, the customary usuals: three 760ml bottles of spirits, 400 cigarettes and 100 cigars or 500g of tobacco, and 2fl oz (50g) of perfume.
