Wat Chom Si Travel Info

Wat Chom Si is the name of the Laotian Buddhist temple at the summit of Mount Phousi in Luang Prabang. The number of steps from the base at Sisavongvang Road to Wat Chom Si is said to number 328. As Wat Chom Si is regarded as one of the most sacred places in Luang Prabang, visitors to it are advised to dress decently, not to make loud noises, and not to argue at the summit.

I visited Wat Chom Si when I explored Luang Prabang with a few members of AsiaExplorers. From Wat Chom Si, we could see the Mekong River on one side, and the Khan River on the other.

There is a shrine within Wat Chm Si with an image of the Buddha. However, the most famous portion of Wat Chom Si is its landmark stupa. This gilded stupa can be seen for miles and from most spots all around Luang Prabang.
