Wat Siri Moung Khoung Travel Information

Wat Siri Moung Khoung is a relatively small monastery with a relatively large compound. It is located along Sakkarine Road, the main road along the small peninsula of Luang Prabang. I arrived at Wat Siri Moung Khoung close to noon, when the sun was blazing down on me. That sort of makes it rather difficult to get good photograph. Also, after so many temples within a day, I was quite exhausted by the time I arrived here.

Wat Siri Moung Khoung is believed to have been built during the 18th century, but I am not sure the exact year. What strikes me as, well, adorable was a pair of white lions in front of its sim. The lions have red mouth with rather ferocious-looking fangs, but the lions look more like they were grinning.

The sim of Wat Siri Moung Khoung has a peristyle only on the northside.
