Cotai

Cotai Strip is an area in Macau presently being developed as a major casino and entertainment zone. The strip is located in Cotai, a reclaimed land lying between the islands of Coloane and Taipa, for which it was named. The 2.2 km road linking Taipa and Coloane, Estrada do Istmo, previously a land-fill bridge, is now a land road. Cotai Strip is developed by Las Vegas Sands, which owns The Venetian Macao. Other developers include Melco-PBL and Galaxy Entertainment. The first casino to open in the Cotai area is the Grand Waldo Hotel which belong to Galaxy Entertainment.

Located in Cotai is the Macau EAG Dome, built for the East Asian Games in 2005, it is the biggest sports facility in Macau. It covers an area of 45,000 sq meters, and was officially opened 5 July 2005. Also located in Cotai is the MUST Hospital, which is associated with the Macau University of Science and Technology. Opened in 2006, it is one of the three hospitals in Macau.
