Ponte de Sai Van

Sai Van Bridge, or Ponte de Sai Van, is a 2.2 km long cable-stayed bridge in Macau. It is the third bridge to connect the Macau peninsula with the island of Taipa, and was inaugurated on 19 December, 2004. The bridge features a two-deck design. The lower deck is enclosed so that it can be used in the event of a typhoon, something which would have closed the other bridges, the Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho and the Ponte de Amizade. There is also space on the lower deck for a future rail link of the Macau Light Transit System.
