About Anna and the King Summer Palace, Langkawi

The Anna and the King Summer Palace is a movie set for the film Anna and the King, part of which was short here in Langkawi. I have seen and photographed it on my earlier trips to Langkawi. I especially love the pavilion over the sea, with Gunung Mat Cincang as the backdrop. During my subsequent visit to Langkawi, I had much difficulty tracking down the Summer Palace. I realised that during my absence, the whole area has been transformed. The quiet setting has now been totally developed to include the Telaga Harbour Park which was not around earlier.

It was much later that I rediscovered the Summer Palace. Alas, it is now in ruins and barricaded. The site suffered heavy damage from the tsunami of 2004, and was never rebuilt.
