Cenotaphs were erected by the British administrators in many towns across Malaysia. They commemorate those the fell during World War I and II. The Cenotaph of Kuala Lumpur is located on the same hill as Tugu Negara, the National Monument, in Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur. This is not its original location, however. The Cenotaph was originally erected near the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station after World War I. It was moved to its present location in 1966 when the Tugu Negara was completed.
Admission to the Cenotaph as well as to the Tugu Negara is free.
