Danga City Mall, Johor
About Danga City Mall
Danga City Mall is a huge shopping mall in Johor Bahru. Located along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, it has a total floor area of 1 million square feet including 500,000 square feet of lettable space. Danga City Mall occupies the complex originally known as Best World, which was first opened in 1996 but closed two years later in the midst of the Asian economy crisis. The mall, which remained unoccupied for nearly ten years, was completely refurbished at a cost of RM100 million, and reopened as Danga City Mall on 31 August 2008. The anchor tenant is Metrojaya, which occupies 120,000 square feet of space, making it the biggest Metrojaya in Johor.
Danga City Mall holds the distinction of being the only shopping mall in Johor to be connected to a train station. This allows shoppers from neighbouring Singapore to shop there. A trip from Tanjong Pagar Station in Singapore takes approximately 90 minutes including custom clearance at Woodlands.
