Eng Tai Hoay Kuan Toh Aka Lane, George Town, Penang
Eng Tai Hoay Kuan is an example of an obscure clan house tucked away in one of the narrowest streets of old George Town. Indeed, even in the narrowest of alleyways there is something special to discover, if one cares to explore. At AsiaExplorers, we encourage travel enthusiasts to explore the alleyways and backlanes because there is marvellous gems to discover.
Eng Tai Hoay Kuan is one such gem. Located on the left side of Toh Aka Lane, the Penang Eng Tai Hoay Kuan is a clan association for two Hakka dialect groups, those from the Eng Teng and the Tai Pu districts. It was founded in 1840.
