About Gunung Gading National Park
Gunung Gading National Park is a national park in Lundu District, in the Kuching Division of Sarawak. Within the park is the 900-meter Gunung Gading. Sungai Lundu flows through the park. There are waterfalls on its upper reaches.
At Gunung Gading National Park, one can come across the Rafflesia tuan-mudae. Also known as bunga pakma, this is the largest flower in the world, often measuring one meter across.
Plank walkways and jungle trails are available for visitors to explore in relative comfort. These were built by the National Park & Wildlife Divison of the Forest Department of Sarawak. There are also two units of chalet, each containing 3 bedrooms and can take up to 6 people. There is also a hostel with four dormitories, each with 16 beds. Campsites are also available for those intending to camp outside.
Following the park trails, visitors can visit two view points, located an hour and 1 1/2 hours away, or trek up to Gunung Gading which is 3 hours away one way. Even further away is Gunung Perigi, which is 5 hours though the jungle one way. This may require camping overnight, although it is not advisable to camp.
Getting there
Gunung Gading National Paqrk is about 2 hours from Kuching. It is 5 minutes from Lundu town. You can take the STC Bus EP7 from Kuching to Lundu. The ticket costs RM8.30 and takes 1 1/2 hours. Park entrance is RM10 per adult.
