Gunung Irau is 2110 m (6900ft), making it the tallest peak in Cameron Highlands and the 15th tallest in Malaysia. Gunung Irau is a popular destination among hikers, who usually trek there from nearby Gunung Brinchang, a journey of three hours each way, passing through the fragile ecosystem of the Mossy Forest. At the peak of Gunung Irau is a marker that marks the boundary between Perak and Pahang.

Even as hiking becomes an increasingly popular activity, it is unfortunate to note that civic-mindedness and environmental consciousness have not increased correspondingly. As a result, it is not unusual to find litter in both the Mossy Forest as well as the trail in Gunung Brinchang and Gunung Irau. AsiaExplorers position on this matter is that it is better not to open the destinations to anybody unless there is better control and maintenance.

Not only will he be able to provide you valuable details that will enhance your experience, he will also ensure that you do not unknowingly damage the fragile mossy forest ecology.
