Gurun is a town in the Kuala Muda District of Kedah. It is located to the north of Bedong, and to the south of Guar Chempedak. The town has a developing industrial park. Several major heavy industries are located here including Modernas, Perwaja Steel and Naza.

The name Gurun means desert. This name probably comes about because of the once barren terrain brought about from being blocked by Gunung Jerai.

Getting there

Exit the North-South Expressway at the Gurun Interchange, Exit 173.
