Although a relatively young city, Kuala Lumpur has quite a good number of historical buildings. Most of these were erected beginning from the fourth quarter of the 19th century, when Kuala Lumpur became the most important town in the peninsula, its prosperity driven by the rich deposit of tin discovered in the Klang Valley.

On this page, I would like to share with you some of the historical buildings that you can find in Kuala Lumpur today:
  1. Coliseum Theatre
Cinema in Kuala Lumpur, one of the longest operational in the country.

  2. KTM Building
    Headquarters of the Malayan Railway.

  3. Kuala Lumpur Industrial Court
Heritage building built in 1905 by Kuala Lumpur's early millionaire, Loke Yew.

  4. Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library
    Former Government Printing Office.

  5. Kuala Lumpur Old Railway Station
One of the most iconic colonial buildings in Kuala Lumpur.

  6. Kuala Lumpur Old Sessions Court
Heritage building along Jalan Tun Perak.

  7. Old Kuala Lumpur City Hall
Theatre housed in the former city hall building.

  8. Old Kuala Lumpur High Court
Heritage building that today houses the Sessions and Magistrates Court.

  9. Old Kuala Lumpur Post Office
Heritage building located next to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

  10. Pudu Jail
Historic prison in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

  11. Royal Selangor Club
Clubhouse on the Kuala Lumpur parade ground.

  12. Sultan Abdul Samad Building
The centrepiece of Kuala Lumpur's colonial architecture.
