Hotel Puri, Malacca

Hotel Puri is a boutique hotel along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (formerly Heeren Street). The hotel is housed in a heritage building which was once owned by prominent Malacca Straits Chinese, Tan Kim Seng.
The original house occupied by Hotel Puri stretches 100 meter deep, from the street front to where the hotel kitchen is today. Within this length, it afforded three air-wells. There was also a well in the ground to supply the household with water - this in the days where pipe water was not yet a common feature. The well is still in existence, and is located near the entrance to the hotel cafe.
