About Kota Kinabalu City MosqueKota Kinabalu City Mosque is a grand mosque at Likas Bay in Kota Kinabalu. Officially opened on 2 February 2000, following the declaration of Kota Kinabalu as a city, the City Mosque or Masjid Bandaraya is the second main mosque in Kota Kinabalu after the Sabah State Mosque. The mosque is surrounded by reflecting pools - or lagoon - so as to appear as though it is floating in the water. The mosque can accommodate 10,000-12,000 worshippers at one time. It was designed to resemble the Al-Nabawi Mosque of Saudi Arabia.Getting thereTake the coastal highway northwards out of Kota Kinabalu, and you will arrive at the City Mosque on your right.Kota Kinabalu City Mosque Location MapView Kota Kinabalu City Mosque in a larger map ![]() Kota Kinabalu City Mosque Author: http://flickr.com/photos/angela7 (cc-by-sa-2.0) ![]() Kota Kinabalu City Mosque Author: fais Photos provided by Panoramio are under the copyright of their owners
