Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is a newly opened tourist attraction situated right in the heart of Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square). It occupies the building which was formerly the Government Printing Press next to the Kuala Lumpur Library, fronting one of the world's tallest flag poles.
The gallery showcases art and history related to the city. Among the exhibits include information on the founding of Kuala Lumpur in the second half of the 19th century, its role as a center for tin mining in the Klang Valley, and its emergence as the biggest city in the country.

A highlight of the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is a detailed miniature of Kuala Lumpur's heritage enclave, showing Dataran Merdeka and Chinatown. By end of January 2012, a 40ft by 50ft scaled model of Greater Kuala Lumpur will be on display.
Housed within the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is an information centre that provides ready help to visitors and tourists. The Tourism Unit of KL City Hall will also start its operations here soon. Also occupying a niche at the gallery is ARCH KUALA LUMPUR, a gift shop with one of the largest collection of gifts celebration Malaysia and especially Kuala Lumpur.
