Kuala Terengganu Waterfront (18 February 2011)

Kuala Terengganu Waterfront is a recreational precinct on the southern bank of the Terengganu River, near its mouth to the South China Sea. By different definition, the waterfront of Kuala Terengganu may include the entire stretch of esplanade from Dataran Shahbandar to the north right down to Chinatown to the southwest.
The waterfront area of Kuala Terengganu has been beautified and landscaped. The authority calls it a "new waterfront heritage city", a fusion of "new", as it the esplanade development, and "heritage", as in the historic shophouses of Chinatown and the busy central market of Pasar Payang. An island off the waterfront is called Pulau Warisan, meaning "heritage island." It appears the word "warisan" or "heritage" seems to be very "in" at the moment, regardless its actual definition. The so-called heritage island is momentarily a barren wasteland devoid of anything resembling heritage.
Pulau Warisan is linked to the Kuala Terengganu Waterfront by a number of bridges. The most spectacular of these is the Crescent-Moon Bridge. It forms a semi-circle arch bridge over the channel between the mainland and the island.
