Introduction to Kuala Kedah

Kuala Kedah is a busy fishing village on the mouth of Sungai Kedah, about 15 km from Alor Setar, Kedah. Kuala Kedah is one of the places where you can take the ferry to Langkawi. The ferries from Kuala Kedah is able to transport vehicles as well.

Kuala Kedah is popular among local tourists for its seafood eateries especially in grilled fish, or ikan bakar, and stalls selling Laksa Kuala Kedah, a local spicy soup dish.

One of the latest developments in Kuala Kedah is the Kuala Kedah Yacht Marina, with its mock fortress structure. The marina is located just next to the historic Kuala Kedah Fort which is worth a visit only if you're a Malaysian history buff.

You can get good views of Kuala Kedah from the Tok Pasai Bridge which crosses Sungai Kedah. Stop your car a short distance on the road shoulder and walk onto the bridge. From it, you can see the fishing village with Kuala Kedah Fort and the Kuala Kedah Yacht Marina further away.
