Kubang Kerian is a town and suburb of Kota Bharu. The town is located to the southeast of downtown Kota Bharu. Perhaps the only call to fame for Kubang Kerian is that it is the location of the Health Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The USM campus is home to the School of Medical Sciences, School of Dentistry and the School of Health Sciences. Also located within the campus in Kubang Kerian is Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, a 800-bed teaching hospital.
