About the Kwijau
Kwijau is an indigenous tribe in Sabah. They live around the town of Keningau, within the Interior Division. As of 2000, their population is estimated at less than 8,000.
Kwijaus are regarded as a subgroup of the Kadazan-Dusun. About 20% of Kwijaus are Christians while the remainder are still animist. One of their most popular dances is Magunatip, the Kwijau bamboo dance, similar to the tinikling of the Philippines.
