Langkawi International Airport (LGK) is the airport for the holiday destination of Langkawi. It has a 3.8 km runway that allows it to accept wide-bodied aircrafts. The airport receives regular flights by AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, China Southern Airlines, and Tiger Airways, connecting it with Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore and Guangzhou. Happy Airways, a new Thai low-cost carrier, is planning to fly to Langkawi beginning in October 2009. The airport registered 1.2 million passenger movements in 2008.
Langkawi International Airport is the venue for LIMA, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, an expo for the aviation and maritime industry. The exhibition is held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, a facility on the southern part of the airport.
