About Lawas

Lawas is a bustling little town on the banks of the Batang Lawas in Sarawak. This remote town is 1200 km from Kuching and 200 km from Kota Kinabalu. Like Limbang, it is a stopover point from people coming from somewhere going elsewhere. There is not much to describe of Lawas. Logging and farming are the two main economic actities supporting this town, with oil palm being the most profitable crop.

Probably the only sight of interest to tourist visiting Limbang is the Tamu Lawas, or Lawas Farmers Market, frequented by the locals as well as visitors from neighbouring Temburong District in Brunei.

Getting there

Lawas is linked by air to Limbang, Miri and Kota Kinabalu.
