About Lok Kawi Wildlife ParkLok Kawi Wildlife Park is a zoo in the town of Lok Kawi, some 15 km south of Kota Kinabalu. This is the result of ten years of planning and preparation by the Sabah Wildlife Department. Opened on 17 February 2007, the 280-acre Lok Kawi Wildlife Park showcases all sorts of animals, especially those endemic to Sabah. This is an excellent zoo and one of the few places in the world where you can get to view the extremely rare Sumatran rhinoceros. Also found here are the proboscis monkey, Malayan tiget, the ubiquitous orang utan, the Borneo Pgymy elephant, and much more.There is a one-square kilometer aviary where you can walk with exotic birds. Then there is also a botanical trail that is 1.4 km in length. Getting thereIf you don't have your own transport, then it's best to go by taxi.
