Padang Beras Terbakar is a site attached to the historical tale (I am not sure how true), that with the impending Siamese attack, the local leader Dato' Seri Kerma Jaya decided to burn the island's rice stock, with the foolish idea that this would starve off the invaders. The result, was an unfortunate calamity for the island population, and many starved to death.
Islanders believe that to this day, during heavy rain, the charred rice grains will still emerged from the site at Padang Beras Terbakar. There is nothing much that the visitors can see, apart from the signage, so be forewarned before coming here.
