Pasar Payang, Kuala Terengganu

Pasar Payang is the central market of Kuala Terengganu. It is located on the southern bank of the Terengganu River. The market fronts the river bank, so boats coming in from fishing trips can dock there.

Pasar Payang spreads over a broad area. It includes the wet market where the freshest fish and prawns are sold, along with meats of various kinds. Restaurant owners can be seen hovering over the catch, pointing out items destined for their kitchens.
An entire section is devoted to dry foodstuff. There are countless foodstalls selling practically the same items - cashew nuts, pistachio nuts, local cookies, keropok (crackers), dodol (local sticky delicacy), sauces, dips, palm sugar, fresh fruits, glutinous rice, and much more. There are even turtle eggs sold in the open!

On the upper floor of Pasar Payang, you find clothes, textile, bags, slippers, hats, belts, and other costume accessories.
Outside the market are becaks or trishaws. Unlike those in Penang, the trishaws here have the passenger carriages to the side. From the size of the carriage, I assume they can carry one big fellow or two small ones.
