Beaches in Penang

The Beaches in Penang are some of the loveliest in Malaysia. It used to be even better, by over the decades, as the state becomes increasingly industrialized and crowded, the sea around the island suffer from pollution and contamination. Most tourists do not come here to swim anymore. There are often warning signs at the beach hotels telling of the danger of jellyfish in the water. Having said that, much of the beaches still retain their scenic beauty.
Some of the most beautiful beaches in Penang are found on the north coast of the island, specifically in Tanjong Tokong, Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang. For those in the know, especially locals, there are more secluded places such as Pasir Panjang which is just as nice.
