Malaysia is a country that is rich in performing arts. Many of these arts have been eroded by modernity. For the benefit of tourism, the government is working to promote the traditional arts before they disappear. Today you can still see the traditional dances performed during festive occasions, usually organised by the government or by wealthy individuals. Another venue to see traditional performing arts is at the annual Citra Warna Malaysia, a cultural showcase that dances of the various races in the country. Citra Warna is usually held in April.

The following are some of the tradtional arts of the country.
