About Pulau Manukan

Pulau Manukan is the second biggest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park in Sabah. It is also the most popular of the five islands. Pulau Manukan has a beautiful beach on its eastern tip and coral reefs offshore. It is ideal of snorkelling, swimming and diving.

Pulau Manukan is the most developed of the 5 islands. It has chalets with recreational facilities such as clubhouse, restaurants and a diving centre. There is also a swimming pool, a football field, volleyball and sepak takraw courts. Pulau Manukan is equipped with fresh water supply, power supply, a desalination plant, sewage facility and even a solar-powered public telephone.

Manukan Island Resort (tel: 088 302399, www.suterasanctuarylodges.com) provides the only accommodation on the island. It has 20 chalets for rent, with a restaurant, a swimming pool and even tennis courts.

Getting there

Arrange with boat operator at the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal. A return fare to Pulau Manukan should be around RM17 per person. You can also charter a boat for around RM200-RM250. There are also island-hopping tickets for RM27 (2 islands), RM37 (3 islands) and RM47 (4 islands).
