About Ranau

Ranau is a small town in the West Coast Division of Sabah. Located on the highway connecting Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan, Ranau is also the gateway to the Kinabalu National Park and Poring Hot Springs. The town is located 1176 meters above sea level, and has a population of about 70,000 people (2000 est), almost entirely composed on Dusun people.

Getting there

There are minivans and buses connecting Ranau with Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. The minivans from Kota Kinabalu takes two hours and costs RM12. The bus from Kota Kinabalu passes the entrance to the Kinabalu National Park while the bus from Ranau to Sandakan passes the junction leading to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.
