About Sabah Museum
Sabah Museum is a museum that showcases the culture and tradition of the peoples of Sabah. It is located along Jalan Muzium, on a hill at the corner of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Penampang in Kota Kinabalu.
The main building of the Sabah Museum is a four-storey built to resemble the longhouse of the Rungus and Murut people. Inside are exhibits of tribal and historical artefacts, as well as a showcase of the flora and fauna of Sabah. Even the famous limestone caves are presented here in replica, to give a feel of how it is like at Gomantong and Madai Caves.
Within the compound of the Sabah Museum are replicas of traditional houses of the different tribes, including a Kadazan bamboo house and a Chinese farm house.
Getting there
Take a bus along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and get off just before the mosque.
