San Wooi Wooi Koon is a Cantonese district association, similar to the Ng Fook Thong on Chulia Street. It was built in the 1870's and refurbished in 1883. It has a stone fence with three pairs of gate post, and with many Cantonese-style association temples, these are all made of granite. The San Wooi Wooi Koon still has its original terracotta floor tiles. A pair of lions stand at the gate.
When the Chinese immigrated to Penang in the mid 19th to the mid 20th century, they built ornate clan temples that are today heritage sites in Penang. Explore them with AsiaExplorers.
