Ipoh has some of the best schools in Perak, thanks to the efforts of early missionaries. Many of these missionary schools have now been brought into the mainstream education system. The following are some of the big schools located in Ipoh:
  1. Anderson School
    The premier non-missionary school in Ipoh.

  2. Anglo Chinese School
    The first English-medium school in Kinta, founded in 1895.

  3. Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus
    Convent school founded in 1907, with present buildings dating from 1927.

  4. Methodist Girls' School
    School founded as Anglo-Chinese Girls' School in 1897.

  5. St Michael's Institution
    Elite school in Ipoh.
