St John's Fort
Jalan Bukit Senjuang, Malacca
St John's Fort is built on a hill in Malacca where a Catholic chapel once stood. When Malacca fell under Dutch administration, the Chinese community overran the hill. From here, they launched a few unsuccessful attacks on the Dutch who have taken Bukit China.
In 1760, the Dutch built the fort to thwart enemy attacks from the south. A complete Dutch force was placed here to defend the fort. The fort fell into disused after the British took over Malacca.
Today St. John's Fort is another of the many popular tourist attractions in Malacca.
