The Hokkien Association of Taiping was set up to look after the welfare of early immigrants from the Fujian Province of China. While the association was founded in the late Qing Dynasty, the present site was only acquired after the revolution, in 1918. The present building dates to 1931. The Hokkien Association can be contacted by phone at +60-5-8073636.
